Penn Dixie Fossils - Ostracods
Ostracods are small crustacea with a carapace that consists of two hinged valves. They appear in the Ordovician and continue to the present.
These fossils were collected at the Penn Dixie Site from the Lower Windom Shale and photographed by Karl A. Wilson, of Binghamton, NY. The ostracodes were imaged with an Intel Intel.Play QX3 computer microscope at a magnification of 60X. The image field of each is approximately 3 mm wide.
